Humboldt Redwoods State Park (near Garberville, CA)

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park One good trail is Mill Creek trail on Howland Hill road. Also
the Myrtle Creek Trail
Fern Canyon take the Davison road exit off 101 and go to the coast
Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park
Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park
Mendocino Coast
Bodega Bay
Ferndale area and the Lost Coast. There is a fantastic Victorian mansion - the
Carson mansion, best photographed in late afternoon. Lots of very
photogenic Victorian architecture

Napa wine vineyards one of the best
is Opus One, just across the
highway, Silverado Trail
Mondavi Vineyards in Rutherford
Healdsburg wine vinyards
Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. Great for fall colors
Geyserville Hannah Vineyards have vineyards planted on hillsides, providing some nice lines.
There is also a beautiful oak tree on a hilltop that can be isolated with vineyards.
Carneros Artesa Vineyards on Dealy Lane, just off Old Sonoma Highway between Napa and Sonoma.
Artesa is located on a hilltop, and provides opportunities for photographing in a number of
directions
St. Helena visit Chappellet Winery travel on Sage Canyon Road.
Calistoga visit Storybook Mountians, Chateau Montelena, and Schramsberg Vineyards.
Coast from Orick to Trinidad is one of the most beautiful in California. Good access at
Patrick Point State Park and Trinidad Beach State Park.. Glass Beach, and Mendocino Coast
Botanical Gardens, Point Arena and Bowling Ball Beach (have to hit it at low tide), and Gualala
hitting some photo galleries. The gate to the light house is only open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30
p.m. Walking around the town of Mendocino can be also good. Little River Cemetery
NOYO HARBOUR - Nice fishing port, fishing boats, seagulls standing on posts, a classic fisherman's wharf.
Van Damne State Park - The beach is very nice for sunsets
and the fern trail along the creek.
Stornetta beach, which is just south of the Point Arena lighthouse you reach it by parking near a
gate on the Point Arena road just as it turns north towards the lighthouse.
Point Arena take the road marked "Coastal Access" at the south end of town up the hill for great views of the coast.
Crescent City and
Point Saint George beach near the
airport has interesting tide pools and a view of the
lighthouse on the Saint George Reef
also south at the
lighthouse and Castle Rock and Lake Earl
Salt Point State Park,
Tafoni formations
Beach Formations try the intersection of Schooner Gulch Road and Highway 1 ( 3.5 mile south of Point Arena ,
there are two trailheads take the right fork
which is a gravel trail with
some steps down to the beach.
Then go north about quarter of a
mile to the formations.
Smith River area
For Fall colors try the vineyards of
Napa and Sonoma
Silverado Trail from Napa to St. Helena is a beautiful drive and great for landscape
photography
Rutherford Hill Winery (200 Rutherford Hill Road) Nice view of the valley
Yountville off of Hwy 29 they take off Hot Air
Balloons 6am to 9am
Atlas Peak Road has some great views of the Napa Valley
at the end of the road is a cattle
ranch with nice landscapes
Napa to Santa Rosa nice drive with many photo
opportunities.
Carneros District
Alexander Valley surrounding Healdsburg on Highway 101, also
Westside Road has some nice rolling vineyards.
Also West Dry Creek Road off of
Westside road
Highway 128 out of Geyserville try
Hanna Vineyards
Artesia Vineyards at the end of Dealy Lane not far off Hgwy 12, sits at the top of a hill
with vistas in every direction
