Pixley NWR great for Sandhill Cranes in end of October - Febuary.

Butterbredt Spring and Jawbone Recreation Area

Cosumnes River Preserve great for birds, also Staten Island near Walnut Grove, ponds along Desmond Road, off Franklin Blvd, just east of I-5 and south of Twin Cities Road

Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex Located 90 miles north of Sacramento- There are five NWR and three WMA that have birds from September thru March.  There are mammals all year around.  The five NWA are Delevan NWR, Cousa NWR, Sutter NWR, Sacramento River NWR, Sacramento NWR.  The three Wildlife Managment areas are Butte Sink WMA, North Central Valley WMA, and Willow Creek-Lurline WMA.
